Cell Technology — Traceability Platform

Digital DNA

Blockchain-anchored materials genomics and supply chain traceability — creating an immutable record of every battery material from mine to finished cell to operational record.

What is Digital DNA?

Digital DNA is C4V's proprietary materials genomics and supply chain traceability platform — a technology that creates a verifiable, tamper-proof record of every material's origin, processing history, and chain of custody from the mine through refining, active material production, cell manufacturing, and into the operational battery system.

The name reflects the underlying philosophy: just as biological DNA encodes the unique genetic history of an organism, Digital DNA encodes the complete provenance history of a battery — its chemical identity, the physical source of every mineral, the facilities through which it passed, and the specifications at each processing step.

Architecture

  • Materials genomics layer: Spectroscopic fingerprinting and elemental characterization of raw materials at the point of extraction and after each processing step — creating unique material signatures that can be verified downstream
  • Blockchain anchoring: Material provenance records are cryptographically hashed and anchored to a distributed ledger — making historical records immutable and verifiable by any authorized party without requiring trust in a central database
  • Cell-level encoding: Each finished cell receives a Digital DNA certificate linked to its constituent materials — enabling any battery pack or system to be traced back to its geological sources
  • Operational integration: American BMS logs feed into the Digital DNA platform, creating a complete battery passport: mine → refinery → cell → pack → operational history

Defense application: Digital DNA addresses the core gap in DoD battery procurement. NDAA Section 841 compliance requires knowing the origin of battery materials. Digital DNA provides cryptographically verifiable proof — not just manufacturer attestation — that battery materials are free of adversary-nation sourcing.

Applications

Digital DNA serves multiple stakeholders: defense procurement requires NDAA-compliant supply chain documentation; IRA domestic content compliance requires verified mineral sourcing from qualifying nations; ESG and sustainability reporting requires auditable supply chain transparency; battery recyclers need material history to optimize recovery processes. Digital DNA delivers a single verified record serving all of these needs simultaneously.
